William Wadri converted a penalty in stoppage time as Bandari FC beat visiting City Stars 2-1 in an FKF Premier League clash staged at Mbaraki on Sunday.

The Dockers arrived in the game on the back of three losses and took the lead in the 38th minute through Abdalla Hassan who arrived in the box unmarked after James Kinyanjui had easily beaten a City Stars defender to float the ball onto his path.

The visitors’ response was immediate. Having troubles of their own this season, they were to restore parity on the stroke of half-time through an Ezekiel Odera penalty this coming after Siraj Mohammed had brought down his opponent in the box following a swift move by Odera himself; the striker sent Michael Wanyika the wrong way to ensure both teams headed for the breather tied on 1-1 score.

The drama was left late in the game, the assistant referee had indicated an additional seven minutes to the game but he was to play the game past the given minutes. First, he awarded the hosts a free kick at the edge of the box in the 98th minute then gave them a penalty in the 100th minute after adjudging that a Bandari player had been obstructed prior to a corner kick.

Wadri didn’t make a mistake from the resultant kick with City Stars’ technical bench led by head coach Nicholas Muyoti storming the pitch after the decision.
