AFC Leopards’ early-season struggles continued on Wednesday after they were held to a goalless draw by Mara Sugar at Ole Ntiimama Stadium in Narok, dealing another blow to their SportPesa League title ambitions.

Ingwe have managed only one victory in four matches, with three draws leaving them trailing league leaders Gor Mahia by six points despite remaining unbeaten.

The visitors had an early chance to take control when Ronald Sichenje released Samwel Ssenyonjo with a through ball, but the Ugandan forward’s low effort drifted narrowly wide.

Mara Sugar responded in the 24th minute when Alex Imbusia’s header struck the woodwork, coming agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock. Sichenje later delivered a dangerous cross, but Adama Kanteh could not connect.

Dennis Cheruiyot also tested Mara’s defence before halftime, only for goalkeeper Tom Ikara to gather his shot.

The second half produced little improvement in front of goal. Kanteh missed further opportunities for Leopards, while Victor Ngume failed to convert Mara Sugar’s chances as both sides settled for a point.
