Kenyan defender Stanley Wilson will miss AIK's return to the Swedish top flight after being ruled out through injury ahead of Sunday's Allsvenskan clash against IFK Gothenburg.

Swedish side AIK has welcomed Kenyan duo of Stanley Wilson and Henry Atola Meja from their loan spells last season.

Wilson who spent a chunk of last season on loan at Enkopings SK has been already been incorporated back in the team having been part of the squad that took on Degerfors IF in a friendly match over the weekend.

The future of Atola remains doubtful as the player has spent a chunk of his career being loaned out to different teams in Sweden.

The striker joined AIK in September 2022 from Tusker FC and was handed a four-year deal. Since then, he has been loaned out to Norrby and AFC Eskilstuna (for two stints) having not featured in any competitive game for his parent club. There is a possibility that he will be loaned out again or sold in his last year of his contract.

Just like Atola, Wilson is yet to feature in a competitive game for his parent club but having joined last year on a three-year deal, the 19-year old will be hoping for more game time this season as he seeks to prove his worth.

Apart from the AIK duo, Djugardens IF also confirmed the departure of defender Frank Odhiambo who has since joined Gor Mahia.

Odhiambo joined Djuagrds at the start of 2022 on a four-year deal but found game time hard to come by with both parties terminating their association on mutual consent with a year left on the deal.
