Angola national men football team has appointed former Senegal head coach Aliou Cissé as their new manager.
The appointment comes following Palancas Negras’s disappointing CAF Africa Cup of Nations campaign with the 50-year-old being unveiled in Luanda on Thursday, less than 24 hours after leaving his role in Libya.

Cissé replaces Frenchman Patrice Beaumelle, who was dismissed after Angola’s early exit at AFCON 2025, where they failed to progress beyond the group stage.
Speaking during his unveiling the Senegalese said, “I am very honoured to join this great footballing nation. I see Angola as an ambitious country. Together, we will write a great story.”
The former Senegal captain, who led his country to AFCON glory in 2021, will begin work immediately, with friendly matches scheduled during the June FIFA international window set to serve as the foundation of his tenure.
His primary objective will be guiding Angola through qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
