Kenya’s Junior Starletstook a huge advantage in their 2026 FIFA Under 17 Women World Cup Qualifiers after edging hosts Namibia 2-1 in a clash staged at the UNAM Stadium in Windhoek on April 12, April 2026.
In what was their first-ever meeting between the two nations at the U-17 level, the Mildred Checehe side wasted no time in showing what they were capable of by scoring two goals inside the first six minutes.

Lindey Atieno opened the scoring just two minutes in with a stunning long-range effort that sailed over goalkeeper Sylvia Tunga, setting the tone for the visitors. Moments later, Faith Boke doubled Kenya’s advantage in the sixth minute, finishing off a swift attacking move to put the hosts on the back foot early.
If the goals weren’t enough, Kenya settled on showing their prowess to the host by some crisp display for the better time in the first half and were just undone with some poor finishing.
Their inability to turn chances into goals gave the hosts some hope and backed by their vociferous fans, they were to pull a goal back five minutes from time through substitute Khloe Awases who capitalized on a lapse in concentration from the Kenyan defence to give the hosts a lifeline heading into the return leg.
The win gives Junior Starlets an edge ahead of the second leg, scheduled for Saturday, 18 April at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi as they work on making it to the next round of the competition.
