Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is set to benefit from increased financial support from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after President Patrice Motsepe announced a 33 per cent increase in annual funding for member associations.

Under the new structure announced on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, each of CAF’s 54 member associations will receive up to USD 700,000 (approximately KSh90.8 million) annually, up from the previous allocation of USD 525,000 (about KSh68.1 million).

The increase represents an additional KSh22.7 million annually for FKF, providing a significant boost to the federation’s efforts to develop football in Kenya.

The additional funding is intended to strengthen football development structures, support youth and women’s football, improve administration and governance, and establish sustainable programmes for players, coaches, referees and other stakeholders.

Motsepe said the latest adjustment reflects CAF’s continued commitment to making football across Africa more competitive, professionally managed and financially sustainable.

Since 2021, when member associations received USD 200,000 (approximately KSh26 million) annually, CAF has progressively increased its financial support. The allocation subsequently rose to USD 400,000, then USD 525,000, before reaching the new USD 700,000 ceiling. The latest figure represents a 250 per cent increase compared with the 2021 allocation.

CAF has also increased annual funding for its zonal unions by 20 per cent, from USD 750,000 to USD 900,000, equivalent to approximately KSh116.8 million.

Meanwhile, the African Clubs Association will see its annual allocation rise from USD 400,000 to USD 500,000, translating to approximately KSh64.9 million.

The revised funding structure is expected to strengthen football development across the continent, although the actual impact in Kenya will depend on how FKF allocates and manages the additional resources.
