Kenyan forward Henry “Meja” Atola has left Swedish side AIK Fotboll after the expiry of his contract on September 1, 2026.

The 24-year-old joined AIK from Kenyan Premier League side Tusker FC in September 2021, but struggled for game time at the club and had several loan spells to other clubs in Sweden.

Atola, who previously featured for Kakamega High School, joined Tusker in January 2020. He enjoyed a productive final season with the Brewers, scoring 11 league goals, including the strike that earned Tusker a 2-2 draw against Bidco United and helped them secure their first league title since 2016.

AIK confirmed his departure after five years at the club, during which he made six competitive appearances and scored once.

His only AIK goal came on his competitive debut in February 2022 against Eskilsminne IF in the Swedish Cup. Atola came off the bench in the 72nd minute before finishing from Nabil Bahoui’s pass four minutes from full time to complete a 4-0 victory.

Following his debut season, Atola spent the next three campaigns out on loan. He featured for Norrby IF in 2023, making 13 league appearances and scoring four goals, before joining AFC Eskilstuna, where he made 55 competitive appearances across two seasons.
