The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has maintained its position on the Sh42 million FKF insurance procurement, rejecting a fresh appeal by Federation of Kenya Football (FKF) Vice President McDonald Mariga.
Pepeta has seen a letter from PPRA Director General Patrick Wanjuki dated August 27, 2026, responding to correspondence from Mariga in which the FKF vice president expressed disappointment with the authority’s earlier determination.

In its latest response, PPRA said it had considered Mariga’s concerns but remained bound by the limits of its mandate under Kenya’s procurement laws.
“We note your dissatisfaction with our determination on jurisdiction, as well as your intention to seek judicial course,” Wanjuki said in the letter addressed to Mariga.
The authority maintained that it operates strictly within the parameters established by the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015, particularly in matters concerning its jurisdiction.

“As a regulatory body, the Authority is strictly bound to operate within the explicit parameters established by the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, Cap 412C (the Act). In this particular matter of jurisdiction, we are guided by Sections 42C and 9 of the Act,” the letter stated.
PPRA consequently informed Mariga that its initial decision remained unchanged.
“Consequently, the Authority’s initial decision remains unchanged,” Wanjuki concluded.
The development comes after PPRA previously closed its investigation into FKF’s insurance procurement for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), determining that no public funds were used and that the transaction was undertaken within the CAF procurement framework.
The authority had consequently ruled that it lacked jurisdiction to further investigate the matter.
