Tusker FC are set to receive approximately KSh 13 million from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) despite their early elimination from the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Brewers exited the competition on Sunday after drawing 1-1 with Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars in the second leg of their preliminary-round tie at the Azam Complex, losing 2-1 on aggregate.

Tusker had suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg at Nyayo National Stadium, leaving them needing a comeback in Tanzania to keep their group-stage hopes alive.

Jonathan Sowah put Singida ahead in the 68th minute before Nigerian forward Victor Mbaoma equalised for the Kenyan side eight minutes from time. However, Tusker could not find another goal to force a penalty shootout, allowing the Tanzanian outfit to progress.

Despite the disappointment, Tusker will benefit from CAF’s financial support programme for clubs participating in the preliminary rounds. The package includes an initial $50,000 (approximately KSh 6.5 million) participation payment and an additional $50,000 solidarity payment for teams eliminated before the group stage.

Their early exit means they will miss out on the more lucrative rewards available to clubs advancing further in the tournament.

The eventual winners are set to earn $4 million (approximately KSh 520 million), while the runners-up will receive $1 million (KSh 130 million). Semi-finalists will each pocket $750,000, with quarter-finalists earning $550,000 apiece.

Tusker will now turn their attention to domestic competition as they prepare to face Mathare United on Thursday in the FKF Premier League, hoping to put their continental disappointment behind them.
