Tanzanian champions Young Africans SC have parted ways with head coach Manqoba Mngqithi just three months after appointing the South African on a two-year contract.

The club announced the decision on Saturday, October 24, confirming that first-team assistant coach Chyna Mokaila had also left his position. Yanga thanked both coaches for their contributions and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Mngqithi’s departure follows a disappointing run in the NBC Premier League, where Yanga have struggled to maintain their dominance.

The defending champions suffered a 2-1 defeat to arch-rivals Simba SC in the Kariakoo Derby before settling for a goalless draw against TRA United.

After eight league matches, Yanga found themselves five points behind leaders Simba, who are coached by fellow South African tactician Steve Barker.

The results increased pressure on Mngqithi as the club sought to remain competitive in the title race and defend their domestic crown.

Reports also suggested that the coach had struggled to win the full confidence of some senior players, with concerns reportedly emerging over his tactical approach and football philosophy. However, Yanga did not officially cite dressing-room disagreements as a reason for his departure.

Mngqithi joined the Jangwani-based club with expectations of sustaining their domestic success and improving their competitiveness in African football.

His exit leaves Yanga facing an important decision over their next appointment as they seek to recover lost ground against Simba and revive their campaign.
