The Kenyan attacker scored two league goals during his spell as he helped bolster Tranmere’s attacking options in the second half of the season.

Obiero heads back to Leyton Orient hoping to fight for a place ahead of the new campaign after gaining valuable first-team experience in English football.

Tranmere Rovers endured a difficult 2025/26 campaign, finishing 21st in the EFL League Two table. The club narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the season after securing a crucial 1-1 draw against Grimsby Town. They ended the season with 41 points, just one point above the relegation zone.

The Merseyside club confirmed that Obiero is among several loan players returning to their parent clubs following the end of the season. Others departing Prenton Park include Jayden Joseph, Marko Marosi, Jack Barrett, Billy Blacker, Will Tamen, Stephan Negru, Dylan Jones and Max Dickov.

Tranmere also announced a major squad reshuffle, with Kristian Dennis, Cameron Norman, Omari Patrick, Jason Lowe, Josh Davison, Richie Smallwood, Sol Solomon, Harvey Saunders, Sam Taylor, Ethan Bristow, Aaron McGowan and Kaiyne Woolery all set to leave following the expiry of their contracts.

Meanwhile, the club confirmed that the process of appointing a new manager is underway ahead of preparations for the 2026/27 season.
