Speaking upon the team’s arrival, FKF General Secretary and CEO Dennis Gicheru attributed the away victory to thorough planning and preparation.
“The result is a testament to proper planning and preparation,” Gicheru said, while praising the team’s attractive style of play. He added that the players have given Kenyans a team worth supporting and called on fans to fill Nyayo National Stadium for Sunday’s return leg as Kenya seeks to seal qualification for the World Cup in Morocco.
FKF Head of National Teams Athanas Obala also applauded the technical bench for assembling a competitive squad capable of competing at the highest level.
Obala expressed confidence that the Junior Starlets have what it takes to finish the job on home soil and book their place at the global showpiece.
A positive result in Nairobi will see Kenya qualify for a second consecutive FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, further cementing the country’s growing reputation in women’s youth football.
