Harambee Stars have dropped four places in the latest FIFA rankings following their 1-1 draw with Eritrea in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Nairobi.

Kenya slipped from 109th to 113th position, with their points tally falling by 6.46 to 1,178.62 after the draw. The rankings currently available from FIFA are live and unofficial, with the next official update scheduled for October 7.

Benni McCarthy’s side appeared set for a disappointing home defeat after Eritrea took the lead, but Ryan Ogam scored late to rescue a point for the hosts.

Eritrea entered the fixture ranked 184th in the world and remain in that position in FIFA’s current ranking data.

Despite the setback, Kenya can improve their ranking with a positive result against Guinea in their next AFCON qualifier. Guinea are currently ranked 82nd, according to the ranking figures cited in the report.

In East Africa, Uganda remain above Kenya, with FIFA’s current data listing the Cranes in 88th position. Tanzania are also ahead of Kenya in the latest figures cited, despite dropping following their defeat to Guinea-Bissau.

Morocco remain among Africa’s highest-ranked sides, currently sixth in the FIFA rankings.

Kenya will face Guinea on Thursday as McCarthy’s side look to strengthen their position in the AFCON qualifying campaign and recover some of the ranking points lost against Eritrea.
