Uganda Cranes captain Khalid Aucho is set to make his final appearance for the national team when Uganda host Botswana in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on November 14, 2026.
Aucho announced his retirement from international football on October 12, bringing the curtain down on a 13-year career in which he earned 77 caps and scored twice for the Cranes.

The midfielder will have an opportunity to bid farewell to the home fans when Uganda take on Botswana at Hoima City Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 7:00 PM.
Aucho currently plays for Ethiopia’s Sidama Bunna, having built an extensive club career across Africa, Asia and Europe.
His experience in Kenyan football includes spells with Gor Mahia and Tusker FC, where he featured in the SportPesa League before continuing his career elsewhere. In Tanzania, he turned out for Singida Black Stars and Young Africans, while his other clubs include Egypt’s El Makasa, India’s East Bengal, Ch Brothers, Serbia’s Red Star Belgrade and OFK Beograd, South Africa’s Baroka FC and Uganda’s Simba.
His career across different leagues has made him one of Uganda’s recognisable midfield figures, while his time as national team captain placed him at the heart of the Cranes setup.
Uganda’s home fixture against Botswana will therefore carry added significance, giving supporters a chance to celebrate Aucho’s contribution as he prepares to close his international chapter.
The Cranes will also be seeking a positive result as they continue their campaign for the 2027 AFCON finals which they have qualified for as co-hosts alongside Kenya and Tanzania.
