Kenyan defender Stanley Wilson will miss AIK’s return to the Swedish top flight after being ruled out through injury ahead of Sunday’s Allsvenskan clash against IFK Gothenburg.

AIK confirmed their squad for the league fixture, with Wilson among several unavailable players as the club resumes domestic action following the mid-season break.

The Harambee Stars defender remains sidelined alongside Ibrahim Cisse, Martin Ellingsen, Yannick Geiger, Charlie Pavey, Andreas Redkin and Sixten Gustafsson, all of whom are also nursing injuries.

While Wilson’s absence is injury-related, fellow Kenyan Henry Atola was omitted despite being fit. The midfielder was listed among the players “not selected,” further fuelling speculation that he could be on his way out of the Swedish club during the current transfer window.

Wilson has been a key figure in the current campaign for his club having managed 10 games in the league and 4 in the Svenska Cupen deployed as an inverted left back.

AIK head coach José Riveiro has instead named a youthful squad for the trip to Gothenburg as the club looks to make a strong return to the Allsvenskan season with the club currently placed 11th with 12 points after 10 games.

They face a Goteborg side who are currently two points below them with the clash set to kick off at 3pm EAT.
