Gor Mahia extended their perfect start to the Sportpesa league season with a hard fought 1-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz in a clash staged at Bukhungu Stadium on Wednesday 28, October 2026.

David Okoth, who previously featured for the hosts, was the match winner with the result also ending Homeboyz’s unbeaten start to the season after three matches.

The two sides battled cautiously in the opening half, with neither able to establish a clear advantage. Homeboyz threatened through Jackson Imbiakha and Omole, but their attempts failed to trouble Gor consistently.

Gor gradually found their rhythm, with Alpha Chris Onyango forcing goalkeeper Ibrahim Wanzala into action. Enoch Machaka Momanyi was unable to convert the rebound, while Wanzala later denied Okoth as the teams went into halftime without a goal.

The contest remained tight after the restart, prompting Gor’s technical bench to introduce Ebenezer Assifuah, Ben Stanley Omondi and Jackson Dwang Mulla in search of a breakthrough.

The tactical changes quickly paid dividends. Dwang picked out Okoth, who made room on the left before beating Wanzala to put the visitors ahead. The former Homeboyz forward celebrated enthusiastically, earning a yellow card for taking off his shirt.

Homeboyz responded by pushing numbers forward and creating several opportunities to restore parity. However, goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi and Gor’s defenders stood firm, with Frank Odhiambo Onyango producing an important block to deny Boniface Nyabuto.

Charles Momanyi also failed to make the most of a free header from a corner as Homeboyz’s late pressure yielded no reward. Gor held on to secure maximum points and preserve their perfect record, strengthening their early position in the title race.

On another earlier match of the day, Bandari FC were frustrated by 10-man Posta Rangers in a goalless draw after failing to take advantage of their numerical superiority.
Rangers had been reduced to ten men following the sending off of Ponda Karisa just four minutes after resumption; the red card being their second of the campaign after their captain Benard Ondiek was sent off in their first game of the season.
