Starlets striker moves to Simba

Kisumu All-Starlets striker Bertha Omita has joined Tanzania’s Simba Ladies for undisclosed period.

 

Omita has been in Tanzania for the past one week and despite having been unveiled by the team, her parent club Kisumu All Starlets are crying foul over the move.

According to Team Manager Beryl Akinyi, Simba has approached them for a release but they were yet to give one.

 

“The player has a running contract with the team and we feel that she didn’t follow the right procedure in her move. She has our blessing in sealing a move anywhere because that all what we want for her but the right channels must be followed.

“Simba has approached us about the player but the transfer is yet to be ratified. We were surprised with the unveiling but we hope they come to the table so that we can have an agreement,” she said.

 

Gor Mahia set for a squad revamp

Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia is set for a squad revamp ahead of the new season according to chairman Ambrose Rachier.

 

The Chairman while speaking to the club’s website admitted that they had worked with the technical bench to identify the players they wanted on board and had already recruited players to replace those who are leaving with the unveiling expected to happen soon.

 

“The club has worked with the technical bench to identify players to strengthen the club. While the recruitment process has been challenging due to the Covid-19 challenge, the club has however managed to recruit players to replace those departing and the new players are set for unveiling soon,” Rachier said.

Rachier further confirmed that the new Executive Committee has already held two meetings to chart a strategic way forward for the club further stating that there was no mass exodus from the team.

The players departing the team are said to be those who had their contracts expire while other were considered surplus to requirements in the team.

 

Go Mahia has already lost keeper Peter Odhiambo and Boniface Omondi to Wazito FC with the future of players like captain Kenneth Muguna is yet to be resolved.

BREAKING: Sven Yidah confirms Kariobangi Sharks departure

Kariobangi Sharks midfielder Sven Yidah has confirmed that he is leaving the club.

 

Yidah has been a key member of the team since joining them in 2016 and while confirming his departure, the player thanked the club for his time with them.

 

In a Tweet, the midfielder said: “My time at time at Kariobangi Sharks has come to an end today. I am grateful for the support I have received from the management, coaching staff, my fellow players and our fans throughout the time that I have been here.

“From January 2016 when I joined this project we have done a lot together. I am happy to be part of the history making teams that saw us earn promotion to the Premier League, winning the first major trophy in FKF Shield Cup and many other great things, together.

 

“I have learned a lot as a player from this family and for this reason I wish the club all the best in the future.”

 

The player has been linked with a move to Tanzania giants Yanga SC before but reports indicate that he might join Kenyan Premier League newbies Nairobi City Stars in the coming season.

Kariobangi Sharks defender crosses over to Sofapaka

2009 Kenyan Premier League champions Sofapaka have acquired the services of defender Michael Bodo from Kariobangi Sharks.

 

Sofapaka said of the signing: “We are pleased to announce we have secured the signature of defender Michael Bodo from Kariobangi Sharks.

 

“Bodo who played a critical role in the promotion Kariobangi Sharks in 2016 and participating in CAF Confederation Cup tournament in 2018 joins our defensive department in a bid to tighten our back.

“The former Thika United player has inked a three-year deal with club that will see him with “BatotoBaMungu” for the next three seasons.”

 

The defender becomes Sofapaka’s third signing of the window after the arrival of goalkeeper Kevin Omondi from Wazito and midfielder Roy Okal from Mathare United.

OFFICIAL: John Ochieng joins Gor Mahia from Chemelil

Chemelil FC midfielder John Ochieng has joined Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia on a four year deal.

 

An elated Ochieng while speaking with Pepeta described the move as a dream come true and said he was confident he was going to deliver at his new station.

 

“Its a dream move considering its the best team in the region. I have worked with coach Patrick (Odhiambo) before and he was one major reason why I chose Gor. I have spoken with the ehad coach too before and they showed interest in me when immediately after our game in Kisumu,” Ochieng said.

 

The midfielder revealed that he ought to have signed early with the KPL giants but was waiting for the paperwork between his former club and the Kenyan Football Federation to be ratified.

“Chemelil had not given me the release letter but that has since been donw. I want to thank the,m for the opportunity they accorded me. I had great memories there and were it not for them I dont think Id be here today.

“Attention now for me is at my new station and I hope I’ll repay the fans and the coaches for the trust they have in me. I just can’t wait to get started,” the midfielder added.

 

The player is said to have received an offer from Tanzania side Biashara United which is coached by his former coach at Chemelil Francis Baraza.

Is Gor Mahia striker on his way to Ghana?

Gor Mahia striker Juma Balinya is attracting interest from Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.

Reports from Ghanasoccernet reports that the 28-year-old Ugandan has emerged on the radar of coach Maxwell Konadu as he strengthens his squad ahead of the 2020/21 CAF Champions League and the Ghana Premier League season.

With financial struggles at Gor, Balinya has been quoted earlier stating that he will only return to Kenya if the Kenyan giants will pay his owed salary arrears this despite having two years left on his deal.

The striker has had a rough patch at Kogalo since joining them earlier in the year from Tanzania Premier League giants Young Africans SC.

Balinya is one of the most coveted players in Uganda having bagged the Uganda Premier League top scorer award in the 2018/19 season after scoring 17 goals for Police FC.

He has two caps for the Uganda national team.

Jacques Tuyisenge set for APR move despite Simba SC links

Rwandese striker Jacques Tuyisenge is set to move to APR despite reports linking him with Tanzania giants Simba SC.

 

Tuyisenge announced on Twitter that he had left Angolan giants Petro Atletico on a mutual agreement after just one year and there have been reports that he is considering options on his table before making a decision.

 

The Rwanda national team assistant captain is being linked with a move to APR according to The Times but Simba SC and Gor Mahia are said to be interested in the player.

 

Tuyisenge is a household name in the East Africa region since captaining Police FC to their first and only major title the previous in the 2015 Peace Cup.

He was also the skipper of a predominantly youth Rwanda side that reached the quarter-finals of the 2016 African Nations Championships (CHAN) finals tournament under the current Uganda Cranes coach John McKinstry.

 

The striker joined Gor Mahia in 2016 and has 14 goals in 41 appearances for his national team.  Apart from Gor Mahia, Police and Petro Atletico, the palayer has previously featured for Kiyovu Sports.

🔵 Anthony Kimani among five City Stars players to sign new deals

Anthony Muki Kimani is among five players that have signed new deals with Kenyan Premier League newbies Nairobi City Stars.

 

Kimani together with Calvin Masawa, Charles Otieno Oduro and Davis Agesa has signed a new two-year deal each with the quartet joining defender Wycliffe Otieno who renewed his contract for one more year.

 

The deals mean that head coach Sanjin Algic will have at least 11 players from the current squad of 25 for next season and club CEO Mr Patrick Korir couldn’t insist more on how the move will bring stability to the team.

 

“The five extended their contracts after receiving the nod from the technical bench. It gives the team stability going forward.

 

“Discussions are still ongoing with other players and the list of extensions should grow further in the weeks to come,” Korir is quoted by the club’s website.

Masawa becomes the longest the longest serving member of the team having joined the club from Migori back in 2011.

 

Other players who were part of the team last season and have extended their stay include Peter Opiyo and Azizi Okaka who will be with the squad till the close of the 2020/2021 season, Ezekiel Odera and keeper Jacob Osano who arrived on two year deals to the end of the 2021/2022 season.

 

Others are Elvis Ojiambo and Vincent Otieno who signed long term deals mid least year.

Gor Mahia midfielder joins Wazito

Gor Mahia midfielder Castro Ogendo has moved to Wazito FC for an undisclosed period.

 

Ogendo who featured for National Super League side Bidco United last season while speaking to the club’s website said that he was motivated by the young blood in the team and he felt joining them was the right choice in progressing his career.

 

“I am very delighted to join Wazito FC, I was motivated by the young blood in the team. Wazito largely consists of young players and as a young player, I felt it is the right club for me to progress. To the fans, I urge them to support us and I promise them wins,” he said.

On his part, coach Fred Ambani was thrilled by the fact that the player can be slotted in a number of positions in the team and will play a huge part in the project they are building.

 

“Castro is a young utility player and we believe that he will play a part in the project that we are building,” he added.

 

The former Ambira High School alumnus who can also slot as a defender becomes the ninth signing of the club in the window.

Cercle’s Johanna Omolo, Michael Olunga, Anthony Akumu were some of the Kenyan players to feature away from home in the weekend.

 

But how did others fair?

 

On Saturday, Johanna Omolo completed the full minutes as Cercle Brugge managed a 3-2 win over Mechelen in the Belgian top division following; Omolo receiving a yellow card in the 29th minute.

 

In Egypt, winger Cliff Nyakeya was introduced in the second half for Mahmoud Toba as FC Masr managed a 1-0 win over El Gouna in the Egyptian Premier League.

 

On Sunday, in Sweden, Anthony Wambani managed to clock the full minutes as IF Vasalunds went top of the Ettan league with a 2-1 win over Orebro. Ochieng Ovela wasn’t in action as he is nursing an injury.

Defender Joseph Okumu managed to play in the entire minutes as 10-man IF Elfsborg went down to Ostersunds FK by a solitary goal in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

 

Eric Johanna played 64 minutes as his side Sodra managed a one- all draw against Vasteras SK. The draw took Sodra to 4th on the log with 22 points from 14 games.

 

In Japan, Michael Olunga‘s seven-game scoring streak came to an end on Sunday as Kashiwa Reysol was held to a scoreless draw by hosts Oita Trinita in the Japanese top-flight league.

 

In South Africa, midfielder Anthony Akumu came on in the last 15 minutes of the game as Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw by Stellenbosch
